Sports therapy, or advanced fitness rehabilitation as we like to call it, takes into account the ever-evolving nature of fitness and injuries. As clinicians, we can’t solely rely on a typical physiotherapy assessment. With constantly varied training methods being incorporated in all levels of athletics, we adapt our assessment and treatment techniques accordingly.

At Optimize Physiotherapy, we have our very own gym space and our clients have access to the following equipment:

  • Assault AirBike
  • Pull-up Bar
  • Olympic Barbells & Weights
  • Kettlebells
  • Rings
  • Concept2 Rowing Machine

We also work with clients who are looking to improve athletic performance or get stronger. By implementing customized training programs for any activity level, we can help you to crush your personal goals in the gym, in the studio, or on the court, course, or ice. Wherever you perform, we’re here to help you take it to the next level.

Because constantly varied training methods are being incorporated in all levels of athletics, we adapt our assessment and treatment techniques often and accordingly.

Using specialized gym equipment enables us to analyze pain, mobility issues, and potential areas of biomechanical inefficiencies with specific functional movements.

What to Expect

Step One: Assessment

Your first appointment begins with a comprehensive movement assessment. We review your medical history, your current concerns, and your future goals. This helps us identify movement imbalances, overuse injuries, and areas that need support.

Step Two: Treatment and Rehab

After the assessment, we create a treatment plan tailored to you. Physiotherapy sessions may include manual therapy, spinal manipulation, Shockwave therapy, TENS, NMES, Air Relax Therapy, mobility work, and strengthening exercises. Our focus is on building long-term resilience so you can keep training, performing, and progressing.

Step Three: Progress and Return to Performance

As you move forward, we regularly evaluate your progress and adjust your plan based on how you are feeling and how your body is responding. We support you through every phase of your return to performance and help you continue moving with strength and confidence.

Meet Physiotherapist Seth

Seth graduated from the University of Alberta with his Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2019. While there, he spent time with the Golden Bears Varsity football team, followed by beginning working as an assistant, and then a kinesiologist at Optimize. This time with patients is when he found his appreciation for showing others how strong they could be, and opening their eyes toward the benefits of moving their bodies intentionally. He continued down this path and began teaching group fitness classes, working as a personal trainer, and in 2020, was accepted into the Masters of Science in Physical Therapy program at the U of A. He graduated the program at the end of 2022 and has been part of the Physiotherapy team at Optimize since.
